Went here for the first time last week. My husband and I tried the Weakness platter. Great portions for two to share. Meats were great. Ribs, brisket and pulled pork were delicious. The sides I would pass on. The mac and cheese tasted like the smell of putrid cheese or vomit. Very off putting. And the collard greens were meh. Service was great though. We will be back but will try different sides next time.
We were craving some BBQ and had no idea this place existed in Eagle Rock! Max City BBQ is a great find for any BBQ lover! This local spot has everything you'd want--a cozy, laid-back vibe with outdoor seating, plus a bar and TV inside if you want to catch a game. The food is seriously amazing--perfectly smoked meats and delicious sides that hit the spot every time. Parking is easy with a lot right next to the restaurant, so no worries about finding a spot. If you're in the mood for some great BBQ and a chill atmosphere, this place is definitely worth checking out!
1st time here, always see that they are busy so we finally had to give them a try. Food was pretty good the service was good as well & pretty quick. Id come back.
Had a great lunch here early afternoon on a Sunday, we walked in and sat at the bar. It's a casual vibe and we had a really sweet server help us. We got the pulled pork sandwich and the brisket sandwich, and the meat was so juicy. The bun was toasted well and there were bottles of bbq sauce so I drenched every bite of the sandwich with the sauce. It was so good. We also got sides of the mac and cheese and the baked beans, very classic and good. We also got the cornbread as a Yelp check-in special and I'm so glad we didn't miss out on those. I find it so hard finding good bbq in LA and this definitely satisfied my craving. Hoping to come back to try more of the menu soon :)
Max City BBQ knows how to deliver a hearty, satisfying feast. I went for the "Everything but the Bird" platter, which packed in a generous serving of brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and jalapeño sausages. The platter came with six pieces of their fluffy cornbread, and as a bonus, checking in on Yelp scored us two more for free--talk about a sweet deal! The sides were no slouch either. We indulged in their mac and cheese, which is a premium side for an extra $2, but absolutely worth it for that creamy, cheesy goodness. Although I was disappointed that they were out of hushpuppies (I was really looking forward to those), we also got coleslaw, baked beans, and potato salad--all solid choices that rounded out the meal perfectly. I'm not big on BBQ sauce, so I went for everything plain, and let me tell you, the flavors held up on their own. The meats were tender, smoky, and full of rich, savory goodness. By the end, I was seriously stuffed and totally satisfied. Great service, delicious food, and a platter that could feed a small army--Max City BBQ definitely hit the spot!
So I've driven by this place many times and seated wanted to try it but it's usually busy. On this day!! It was oddly not, so we decided to try it out. I've had my fair off bbq and might I say, this place was outstanding! The meats were tender and flavorful! I loved every piece that was on the plate. The ribs fell off the bones and the pulled pork was super tender! The Mac and cheese was delicious and was not the packaged krafts (at least I thought it wasn't) Which was even better (package is still good tho). The grilled cheese with pulled pork was probably my favorite! The melted cheese paired well with the pork and all flavors came together! Hush puppies oh lord!' That little round delightful bundle of joy was also above and beyond! It was crunchy and moist, also a must have! Enjoyed all the food, from sides to the plate. Will definitely go back if not for the meats for the hush puppies. The place inside can be a little small for a large group however the outdoor seating in the back by the parking lot should be able to accommodate a larger party. There is a good size bar inside along with beer on tap. I enjoyed the indoor seating as it gives you that Texas style feel. If in the mood for barbecue, I'd recommend this spot. It's probably one of the few without being over priced as well!
We are traveling and wanted BBQ so I looked into yelp and found this place, the food looks good on yelp reviews, the place is on the corner of Eagle Rock Blvd and Ridge View Ave the Parking is in the back of the building. They have outside sitting which is very nice and a few table inside and a sitting bar were you can also get food. so I was hoping that when we ordered the to share weakness it would be great. It took about 5 minutes to get attendant too, the waitress(Cindy) was very pleasant. We got our drinks very quickly. We finally received our food 30 minutes after arriving. The food look awesome I was excited. When portions were given out we got the potato salad which was very good. The sausage was well seasoned and had cheese in it, the corn bread was very warm and sweet. The condiments they gave us was honey and whipped butter, I was glad that the had real butter. Our other side item was baked beans was disappointed as the were not even warm. The brisket , chicken, ribs were very tender and would eat them again. The restroom were clean. One thing I noticed when I got up and to get a to go box was that Cindy was the only one taking care of the outside and inside orders, she also was the cashier, waitress, bar attendant and took phone orders, she did this with a smile and very and a great personality and her performance was exceptional. Not sure who the owner is but she needs a raise and help. The 4 star rating was because hot food needs to be hot and cold food cold. Please make sure your baked beans are hot could not eat them. Thank you Cindy
Listen this place has great meat, but that's about it. This is simply my personal opinion, but as someone who tries a lot of barbecue spots and steakhouses, I have to admit that their sides are lacking. I have been here multiple times throughout the years and their quality is pretty consistent. Their ribs and sauce that they offer are good. But, like I said, if you have the option to get sides (specifically the mac) from elsewhere.. then do so. The service is fine; no complaints there. When I went in, the girl that took my order it was super nice and helped me figure out what to pair. As for the space itself, it's a bit small, but I think they still have an outdoor area where you can sit, which is a plus. The inside is not the most spacious, but it's better than nothing if you want to relax and eat with some friends or even sit at the bar area (I included a picture of that below) and watch the game. Overall this place will remain high on my list of places nearby when I'm craving ribs, but isn't the first.
